ReBranding La Piê
MagmaWave, in association with it’s strategic partner WebWorking, just completed a rebranding project for a group of Piadina shops here in Torino. La Piê, a quickly growing group of shops now preparing to franchise came to us for assistance with their communication.
We advised them to use new media tools to reach their customers and potential franchisees, and with the team at WebWorking, we were able to help them unify their branding, and create a simple friendly look that is adaptable to many uses, from signage to t-shirts, from packaging and wrappers to web communications.
With the team, new wrappers were made for the shops, and now a clearly identifiable orange La Piê wrapper can be seen adorning delicious Piadinas in Torino.
We love the ricotta, sundried tomato and eggplant Piadina for lunch on our terrace. MMmmmmmm.

Young Entrepeneurs of Torino
Yesterday we had a great visit of a group of “Giovani Imprenditori di Torino” or The Young Entrepeneurs of Torino. Amedeo Perna of WebWorking brought this great group to visit us. They stopped by the MagmaWave office for a hello before dinner. There is great entrepreneurial energy in Torino, and we are glad they stopped by.
Snow at the Beach
We are blessed with a great terrace at the MagmaWave Torino office. This is the MagmaWave Beach Club, and naturally has more use in the summer.
There usually isn’t snow in Torino, but this year it seems like Bing Crosby is singing White Christmas all the time.
Before I headed back to California, it snowed that morning.
Merry Christmas Everyone!
Euro CineShow 2008
MagmaWave presented a seminar at the EuroCineShow this week in Torino. Alongside Davide Scalenghe of CurrentTV, Daniel McVicar presented: From Facebook to Film. Uses of New Media and Modern Filmmaking. Specific tools were given to the packed room on how to use the new media in reaching your audience and telling your story.
Davide Scalenghe talked about how CurrentTV is using User Created Content in its programming, and how to make that happen. He is also quite a doppelganger for leading Netizen Ze Frank.
The seminar was a great success, and Daniel McVicar’s Italian was sturdy enough to communicate the ideas, although it may be similar to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s English, accented but effective. The seminar was in such demand that it was moved to a larger hall. Thanks to the Euro Cine Show
Magmawave presents seminar at Euro Cine Days 2008
Magmawave Media presents a seminar at the European Cinema Days 2008 in Turin, at Lingotto Fiere, Via Nizza 280.
On November 18th at 3 pm Daniel McVicar, founder of Magmawave Media will be leading a conference about New Media titled “From Facebook to Film. Uses of New Media and Modern Filmmaking” alongside Al Gore’s Current TV.
Description of the seminar:
From Facebook to Film. Uses of New Media and Modern Filmmaking
Daniel McVicar heads MagmaWave Media, a cross platform production company in the US and Torino. He leads a conversation in the effects, uses and challenges of new internet based media in the filmmaking process, and the promotion, distribution and monetization of film.
With every challenge in the disruption of film distribution by YouTube, there is an opportunity to use these new technologies to bring new audiences and voices to your filmmaking and storytelling.
The presentation includes concrete examples on the new low-cost techniques to bring audience interest to your story, and to engage your audience with social and internet media in addition to cinema and television.
By stirring a conversation on the use of these ever evolving technologies this seminar will take the mystery out of the new media.
A smile for all
We got a report of a great success story at sorrisoveloce.com. We built a site for this
Torino dentist recently, and included a custom video, and their office receives a call very quickly..from a new client, and a person who will build a new smile. This is the first of many.
The power of conversation, of the web, and its low cost and high engagement is often discussed, but it pleases us to hear of one story, one person, who connected with our client.
This is the short intro video. We have others waiting release.
Making of Il Bene e Male
MagmaWave announces that we will be doing the “Making of” or “Backstage” for Il Bene e Male, a production of Alessandro Jacchia and Albatross Productions for RAI Television.
MagmaWave will produce, edit, shoot footage and use footage from additional sources in the making of documentary for the series. MagmaWave will also offer Backstage Plus for new media distribution of its content.
Il Bene e Male is now shooting in Torino, and directed by Giorgio Serafini. Cast includes Bianca Guaccero, GianMarco Tognazzi, Marco Falaguasta and Antonia Liskova.
Piazza Cavour
As we continue working on our office in the historical center of Torino, the rain and floods have been coming. So the lovely terrace over Piazza Cavour is having a wave of its own.
We are on the second floor, the noble floor in a lovely Palazzo. Our neighbors at webworking have worked with us on the sorrisoveloce.com site.
The new paint is dry, and the office is still quite empty. We do have the high speed connection thanks to FastWeb…fiber optic and faster than what I experience in the US.
