Daniel McVicar, Founder
Daniel McVicar created MagmaWave in 2006 in Los Angeles to service his own needs as he developed LateNiteMash and the McVlog. These award winning shows and sites with short form video and communities had over a million views and LateNiteMash was sponsored by Intel Core Duo.
The McVlog has featured interviews with online notables like Arianna Huffington, Craig Newmark, and Robert Scoble, as well as Daniel’s own brand of smart humor. Daniel was named male vlogger of the year by Lulu.tv, and hosted the first annual Vloggies awards.
LateNiteMash served as an experiment in community based media, and brought Hollywood stars to Mash it up with the community. Appearing on LateNiteMash as guests have been Andy Garcia, John Malkovich, and sax legend Plas Johnson.
A veteran of film and television, he has appeared as an actor in hundreds of hours of television, most notably in The Bold and the Beautiful, CBS Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and as Rock Hudson in Liz, the Elizabeth Taylor story on NBC.
His studies have included California Institute of the Arts and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, as well as University of Torino.
Daniel divides his time between his homes in Los Angeles, California and Torino Italy.
Virginia De Agostini, Associate Producer
A graduate of University of Turin, “Doc Virgi” speaks several languages and has experience in Rai television and the world of competitive skating.
Spencer Bainbridge, Producer, Writer and Editor
Spencer Bainbridge earned a B.A. in Broadcasting and Electronic Communications Arts at San Francisco State University. He then came to Los Angeles, and found the right place to start, at the mail room at CAA.
A California native, he has been involved in video production since middle school, where he produced his own cable access program.
The experience of writing, shooting, editing, and performing in his own program equipped him with a well-rounded knowledge of video production techniques. He is proficient in linear editing and Final Cut Pro, as well as basic lighting techniques, camerawork, and scriptwriting. He was a writer and producer for the LateNiteMash.
Spencer lives in Hollywood.
Niko Rantala, Web Developer
Born in Nokia, Finland, Niko Rantala received a Master’s of Science degree in Business Administration and Economics at the University of Vaasa.
Niko’s talents include planning and implementing software and information systems, multimedia systems, Web publishing and digital image processing.
His extensive knowledge of computer technology includes the following programming languages: ActionScript, CSS, HTML, Java, Lingo, SQL, UML, Visual Basic, WML, XHTML, and XML.
Torino
Eugenio Sciola, Visual Effects, Graphics, Editing and Good Will
The core of the Torino team, along with Daniel McVicar is Eugenio Sciola. An expert in postproduction, editing, motion graphics and graphics.
He works with all systems and programs including After Effects, Photoshop, Final Cut, Combustion and Shake.
His work also includes advising young filmmakers at the University of Torino and his freelance clients have included Fiat, Martini, Yamaha and Regione de Piemonte.
